My Story
My most recent work was in a health system with nearly 100 sites of care where I served as the product owner for the health system's new enterprise level website. During my tenure I drove the consumer product and web development strategy for its core service-line offerings, digital technology, and connected experiences. I provided value-add analytics and solutions, business cases, set release priorities, and served as the principal quality analyst and UX lead on all releases, driving cross-functional digital transformation initiatives.
Leading teams and working with our SAAS partners and leadership for nearly 5 years during a large rebrand, leadership transitions, and national crises taught me how to align business goals and balance constraints while advocating for the user and equitable access to tools and technologies during critical challenges within the company and the healthcare industry.
As a leader I am committed to the success and overall growth of my teams and peer groups. My primary leadership style is one of flexibility, mentorship, and encouragement.
Throughout my career I've worked with people all over the country and overseas who brought a myriad of cultural, work, and life experiences with them. I enjoy learning about people, removing barriers, and creating a supportive environment where my colleagues can bring their unique variety of individual skills to each role. Because of this I've fostered strong bonds and supported workgroups where people are comfortable sharing constructive ideas regardless of seniority level, specialty, or background.
I offer a strong track record leading successful teams of up to 15+ team members, developing employee technical skills according to business needs and individual interest, and helping direct reports and coworkers build confidence, interpersonal skills, and effective communication with the broader team, achieving our vision of a more collaborative, cohesive, and supportive work environment.

My Journey
I started programming on DOS systems as a child in the early 1990s (thanks to my mother for the reminder). My professional work in design, illustration, and technology began right after high school in the late '90s and early 2000s. As a young visual artist, college exposed me to the diverse opportunities in design and digital technology careers.
I began building my own PCs out of financial necessity, never imagining this would lead me into the world of technological innovation. I experimented with digital applications, managing digital assets, and building and coding websites. Despite their steep learning curve, these tools enabled me to understand their inner workings, helping me become a stronger designer and web developer.
Navigating young adulthood and attempting to pay for college on a retail salary was difficult; however, my creative and technological interests only deepened as I took advantage of every opportunity I could while improving myself as a student and taking on side-work for individuals and small businesses.
I launched JBurke Design in 2012 for digital design and artwork, rebranding to JBurke Digital in 2016. During this period, I gained industry experience working in corporate environments while continuing to develop the brand.
My recent experiences have allowed me to work with inspiring leaders and colleagues some interested in my development, some who presented with me nationally, and others who consistently collaborated and helped me grow. I am grateful for all of these opportunities.
